Basic Butter Frosting*
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup confectioners sugar
2 tablespoons milk, cream, sherry, rum or brandy
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar well, then add the vanilla and liquid. Beat until smooth.
